free leather range

The good thing about being a stylist AND a designer, is you get free range to use your own designs for shoots you style. Us gals over at Salted & Styled, all collaborated to produce this dreamy set for a 2 week stint on the blog featuring flowery recipes, art work, story telling, flower designs, photography and fashion!! I recruited a couple of friends to do the modeling (thank you April Johnston and Christina Routhier) and Cassie White for Rise Model Management. And of course, the usual talented group/TEAM of lady friends that are regular contributors on the blog that created all of this on one sunny afternoon (no big deal)…… at the Savannah Roundhouse Railroad Museum.

I don’t normally design or construct anything “custom”. I’m allergic to that word. But, when my dear friend Susan asked if I would custom make her wedding dress…. I said yes! (yes, just like a proposal). For 6 months we went back and forth w/designs, made changes, added things, took off things, beaded things, figured out chariots, went through several chain options, had several muslin fittings, ordered fabrics 3 times….. yea, we had a somewhat long dress engagement for sure. Susan knew exactly what she wanted (after the evolving stage), I just had to figure out how to master the construction….. BEADS AND CHAINS GALORE!! She’s not only strikingly beautiful, but super talented.. she designed, planned and made each and every detail for both wedding and reception….every flower arrangement, every tiny pearl on each skull, personalized invitations, down to painting the table runners! Her personal style and touches made for one bad ass wedding. Sooo Rock-n-Roll. Well, she did marry the lead guitarist for Black Tusk, Andrew Fidler.

shaky muddy knees

Wow, now THAT was some bad festival weather this wknd in Atlanta, GA for Shaky Knees Music Festival….. a continuous relentless down pour of rain, which made it freezing cold on top of being wet, which made the once beautiful park in to a nasty thick mud pit that would suction your shoes like quicksand as you walked. ugh. Due to the conditions, yea.. it’s safe to say that my camera and motivation to document wasn’t on the highest of levels. Thank you baby Jesus for my buddies, LUCERO (Memphis,TN)…. who let us on to the covered stage during their set, hence the only photos and video I got!! Hope you like Lucero, if you don’t.. well, your crazy.

30 minutes in to the Festival…. slightly dry and annoyed. Really REALLY smart that I wore my Rag&Bone boots in to that mess….. really happy about that decision of mine. But, those Citizens of Humanity overalls were quite fitting to say the least.

Happy 80th to this guy!!

One of my favorite shows, to date… Willie Nelson & Friends: Stars and Guitars at the Ryman/Nashville in 2002. A 2 night gig recorded NOT live, Patti Griffin made the band start over several times till she got it right. The best 2 nights, w/ Willie singing different sets with Keith Richards, Ryan Adams, Nora Jones, Pat Green, Gillian Welsh, Sheryl Crowe, Vince Gill, Matchbox 20, Hank 111, Patti Griffin, EmmyLou Harris, Rob Thomas, Richie Sambora, Bon Jovi, Toby Keith, Bill Evans, Brian McKnight.. just to name a few!! This is the only clip I can find, way before social medias and Utube was in existence. I didn’t even have a camera!!! *small fact: Ryan Adams had gotten drunk and fallen out of a cab the night before and had a busted eye…

If you notice on all of my models arms, those cool brass cuffs.. that was a collaboration with the awesome talented jewelry designer Meredith Sutton!!
